About Mont & Ciel

Mont & Ciel — Mountain & Sky — began in a small studio with a question I asked myself: what would a watch look like if it were made for a generation that already has too much? Designed for restraint, not for status. Made to be worn quietly for a long time, and then given to someone you love.

Singapore felt like the right place to ask the question. We sit between East and West, and that geography is built into how the watch is made. Designed here. Inspired by the West, and manufactured by a small atelier in the East. 

This is a small company. It will stay small. Each design we make will be capped at 100,000 pieces, ever — and when it retires, it is gone. The house is built around the conviction that scarcity should follow restraint, not manufacture it.

The lifetime replacement pledge

Every watch we make comes with a promise that lasts as long as you do.

"At any point in your lifetime, return your Mont & Ciel watch to us. We will replace it with the same design, made new, for 50% of the watch's current price."

That is the pledge in one sentence. Here is what it means in practice.

  1. Whenever you are ready, we are ready.
    A year from now. Twenty years from now. Send us your watch — and we will send back the same design, made new. There is no expiration on the offer, and there is no need to explain why.
  2. The exchange is simple.
    You pay 50% of the watch's current retail price. We take back the original — no matter its condition.
  3. Or — keep it. That is also valid.
    If you love what you have, do nothing. Wear it for as long as you want. Pass it on when the time is right. The pledge is for you, but it is not an obligation.

Why we do this

A watch worn for thirty years is going to look like it has been worn for thirty years. Cases scratch. Crystals dim. Lume fades. Straps wear thin. These are not flaws — they are the marks of a watch that has been lived in. But there comes a day, sometimes, when a worn watch wants to be new again.

The pledge exists for that day. Same design. Same dial. Same case. The same watch, in essence. Just rested.

A retired design can still be replaced. We take the conviction "made to last" literally — including for watches that left our hands ten, twenty, fifty years ago.

A watch should also be able to be passed on. The pledge does not end when you do. If you choose to give your Mont & Ciel to your child, your partner, or a friend. The next refresh can be theirs.

This is the promise our brand is built on.
